Ney Lessons - 1 -
Our Holding and Sitting Position
FIRST TIME WE MAKE SOUND FROM NEY:
When we come to the next levels, the sound we aim at will be this way:
First of all, I have to say that most of the Neyzens are left-handed, or they should use their right hands,
They blow what's right with the right hand up.
To say that our right hand is above, by closing the curtain in the back part that we call as the curtain of excess, with our right hand,
with our right hand up
Ney means blowing.
We will blow our Ney with our right hand up.
It is okay to blow Ney with the left hand up, and there are Neyzens who blow Ney in this way.
With the left hand up, according to our stance, sitting position and holding our Ney,
it will be completely opposite.
In our Ney classes, we will not go into the details of Ney blowing with the left hand up.
From now on, while we blow Ney, we will blow Ney with our right hand up and continue our lessons in this way.
We will try to give information about our holding position while blowing Ney with the right hand up.
From time to time, you can correct ourselves as posture and grip by looking in the mirror.
LOOK ATTENTION !!!
If the curtains close halfway or close a little, there is no sound, so we have to close the curtain completely.
We can also check by looking at the curtain before blowing it from time to time to make sure we have the curtain fully closed.
Please check the picture below.
The curtain on the back you see in the picture is the AŞİRAN PERDESI.
First of all, we place our left hand on the leg of our left knee:
(Picture Below)
We hold our Ney with our left hand.
We close the lower middle veil of our Ney with our left hand middle finger.
We close the curtain with the middle part of our finger:
Now we grasp what we do with our right hand.
We cover the curtain in the upper middle part with the middle part of our middle finger:
(Picture Below)
We close the second veil of our Ney from the top with our right hand middle finger.
We close the curtain with the middle part of our finger:
As you can see, we have taken our Ney grip position.
(Picture Below)
As can be seen in the pictures above, the curtain of our Ney is closed with our right thumb.
We closed the upper middle veil of Ney with our right hand middle finger.
We closed our middle curtain at the bottom with our left hand middle finger.
After this stage,
We unknowingly bend our body forward, which is normal.
At the end of a certain period, the body is already getting its own comfortable state.
We should blow Ney in comfortable positions without stretching ourselves;
If we present another picture of the holding position:
(Picture Below)
We complete our session in this way:
After completing our session in this way, we can proceed to blow sound:
and WE MAKE SOUND:
Now we do not leave this position and we pretend that our lips are whistling.
We create a round hole in the middle of our lip.
We pull our tongue in and blow it out.
We blow the contours of our lip to the tip of our thumb:
(Picture Below)
Let's zoom in with a macro shot:
Our lip position should be while blowing Ney:
Our lip position should be while blowing ney close up:
We have to blow it in a cross position to resonate the sound (at an angle of about 45 degrees).
After these explanations, we blow the first Re sound from our Ney.
We blow the sound Re with multiplication, we will see this in our next lessons.
We complete our first lesson here.
- We must continue to blow that sound, without letting go of a sound that we caught while blowing.
- We should blow sound until our lips get tired, until our breath is exhausted.
- In other words, we must blow without releasing the sound we have captured.
- PLEASE DO NOT EXCEPT THAT I WRITE AND RECOMMEND.
So what could these be?
- Making different sounds by opening and closing fingers;
- Trying to play any hymn or song or a different melody;
- Let's NOT do any unrelated studies such as trying to play treble sounds, which we call octave sound.
